What are United Way Ambassadors?

Looking for a way to get involved in your community?

United Way ambassadors receive valuable training about what we do in the community as well as participate in community and business networking opportunities.

Ambassadors are critical to helping United Way raise funds that make important differences for children, adults and families experiencing food insecurity, homelessness and domestic violence, while also providing safe after-school programs, mentorships, adult literacy programming and employment services.

This is how you can Live United!

Businesses benefit when employees are ambassadors because:

  • Employees receive leadership training
  • Involvement with United Way enhances your company image because of your commitment to serving the community
  • The ambassador program increases your company’s visibility and develops and strengthens relationships

Employees who serve as ambassadors benefit by:

  • Developing leadership, sales, management and presentation skills
  • Enhancing communication, relationship building, problem solving, negotiation and team building skills
  • Making valuable business and community connections
  • Gaining insight into community needs and resources

Our goal is assigning ambassadors no more than 3 accounts, which requires:

  • Contacting the company to set up meeting with campaign coordinator or encouraging company to assign a campaign coordinator
  • Inform company contact(s) of United Way’s engagement programs in the community, including tours of funded partners, volunteer opportunities and company presentations
  • Provide detailed information about how contributions made by their company and employees are impacting the community
  • Maintain consistent communication with company contact throughout the year so companies are ready for the fall campaign
  • Work with company contact to schedule campaign dates and presentations
