Prescription Drug Abuse Campaign

CCSAPP works to reduce prescription drug abuse in Cabell County in several ways: prescription drug take back events (local and national), which increase community collaboration and awareness while reducing the supply of drugs in the home from falling into the wrong hands; educational outreach to community members and senior citizens; and pharmacist/physician outreach/awareness activities.

Prescription drug take back events conducted in Cabell County in September 2010, April 2011, June 2011, August 2011 and October 2011 yielded approximately 584 pounds of unused and unwanted medications. (SOURCE: Cabell County Substance Abuse Prevention Partnership.)
