Brain Under Construction Zone ^SM  

The “Brain Under Construction Zone ^SM” was created to increase family and caregiver awareness and understanding of the impact of the first five years of a child’s life in every area of development. The twelve messages of Success By 6® are currently being displayed in 23 locations, including a kiosk outside the Mother/Baby Unit at Cabell Huntington Hospital.  Families delivering babies at this hospital are offered an opportunity to talk with a Brain Zone representative about early brain development and are given a packet of information and a  Building  Connections Brain Booklet to take home as a reference.  Packets include materials from “Day One”, CHIP (Children’s Health Insurance Program), and articles pertaining to the message of the month.  Families who have children at ERASE participating childcare centers see the messages at a mini Brain Zone in the center and receive information monthly regarding the message of the month.

During 2005 and 2006, over 1500 families at Cabell Huntington Hospital received a visit, and 1000 families who have children in local childcare centers have had access to the    messages. The program has trained volunteers to conduct visits and to prepare the packets and material for each site.
